Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a clean and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, patient assessment, and infection control protocols, ensuring the highest standards of oral health care are delivered in a compassionate manner. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with pediatric dentistry are highly valued.
Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth and removing plaque and calculus using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with chairside procedures during general dentistry treatments, including four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
- Review medical records for relevant health information and ensure proper documentation review for treatment planning.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as updating medical coding and managing documentation review processes.
- Ensure the clinical environment adheres to OSHA standards and infection control guidelines.
Qualifications
- Must be Fluent in Spanish
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry preferred, with knowledge of pediatrics-specific procedures.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology.
- Experience with infection control practices, aseptic technique, and medical imaging procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, documentation review, and medical coding is advantageous.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively.
- Ability to work efficiently in general dentistry settings, including pediatric dentistry environments.
