Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental examinations to evaluate oral health status.
• Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
• Capture and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive measures, and the importance of regular dental visits.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing sensitive medical information appropriately.
• Support infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, and maintaining a sterile environment.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness to facilitate seamless communication within the dental team.
• Stay current with advancements in dental terminology, medical coding, and industry best practices to provide optimal patient care.

Experience

• Prior experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred for efficient record management.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and pediatrics enhances patient assessment capabilities.
• Experience with medical imaging techniques including X-ray interpretation is advantageous.
• Familiarity with infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes is essential for maintaining safety standards.
• Previous roles involving chairside assisting or dental assisting provide a strong foundation for this position.
