Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to assess patient health status.
• Conduct dental assessments by reviewing medical and dental histories, documenting findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations for optimal dental health.
• Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
• Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
• Proficiency with dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding purposes.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
• Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
• Experience with chairside assisting is a plus, along with knowledge of medical imaging techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of infection control and aseptic technique. Pay: $48.00 - $58.00 per hour
