Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to monitor patient health status
• Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth, efficient care delivery
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, current symptoms, and dental concerns for accurate diagnosis
• Capture and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary habits, and post-treatment care to promote lasting health benefits
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental office standards

Skills

• Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft for scheduling, documentation, and record management
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques
• Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific patient care approaches
• Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport
• Familiarity with medical coding, documentation review, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, and HIPAA compliance
• Knowledge of general dentistry practices along with specialized skills in pediatric dentistry when applicable
• Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate patient care
