Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and interpret vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to assess patient health status.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures like X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
- Support chairside assisting during various dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort.
- Review and update medical records accurately while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Conduct patient assessments, review documentation, and assist in medical coding when necessary for insurance or record purposes.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and records management.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable; familiarity with pediatric-specific care is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse age groups, especially pediatrics.
- Prior experience working in general dentistry or dental clinics utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records review, and basic medical coding enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care. Pay: $43.33 - $50.00 per hour
