Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for patient care and a comprehensive understanding of dental hygiene practices, with expertise in providing preventive oral health services, patient education, and assisting in general dentistry procedures. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in promoting oral health, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including vital signs measurement and medical history review.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs.
- Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Maintain strict infection control standards in compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental office protocols.
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing excellent patient care and addressing concerns professionally.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles for treating young patients effectively.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks efficiently while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
- Experience with medical coding related to dental procedures is advantageous.
