Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history reviews, and oral examinations to identify potential issues.
- Prepare patients for treatment by explaining procedures, ensuring proper positioning, and applying aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
- Capture and review dental radiographs (medical imaging) accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Maintain detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring documentation review and accuracy.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
- Proven experience in dental office environment.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, infection control protocols, and aseptic technique adherence.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to oral health, medical imaging procedures, and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
