Duties

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
  • Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health status.
  • Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
  • Capture and interpret medical imaging (X-rays) while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, documenting findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
  • Maintain infection control standards by following strict sterilization procedures, managing dental supplies, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a dental setting.
  • Proven experience in dental office environments, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus, along with knowledge of pediatrics-specific procedures.
