Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal patient oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Support infection control protocols by adhering to sterilization standards, managing dental supplies, and ensuring a safe clinical environment.
Qualifications
- Valid Dental Hygienist license with current state registration.
- Proven experience in dental office settings with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for documentation review.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and pediatric patient care techniques.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, anatomy, and aseptic techniques essential for safe clinical practice.
