Dental Insurance Biller and Treatment Coordinator

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Insurance Biller and Treatment Coordinator to join our vibrant dental practice. In this role, you will be the vital link between patients, insurance companies, and the dental team, ensuring accurate billing, efficient treatment coordination, and seamless communication. Responsibilities

  • Review patient treatment plans and accurately assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes to ensure precise billing and insurance claims processing.
  • Submit and follow up on insurance claims using electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, ensuring timely reimbursement.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage details, benefits, and limitations prior to procedures to optimize coverage and minimize patient out-of-pocket costs.
  • Coordinate scheduling of treatments with patients and dental staff while explaining financial policies and insurance procedures clearly.
  • Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid claims, resolving denials, and appealing rejected claims to maximize revenue.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records, ensuring accuracy in documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and billing information.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies or claim issues promptly.
  • Educate patients on their dental benefits, treatment options, and financial responsibilities in a friendly and professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in medical billing within a dental or healthcare setting; familiarity with dental-specific coding such as CPT codes for dental procedures is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DRG classifications, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing, documentation, and record management.
  • Excellent understanding of medical office workflows including insurance verification, claims submission, follow-up processes, and collections.
  • Ability to interpret insurance policies and explain coverage details clearly to patients.
  • Familiarity with medical records management and maintaining compliance with privacy standards.
