Dental Lab Technician

Summary:

Fabricates and repairs dental prostheses such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants based on dentist prescriptions and patient impressions. Using materials like porcelain, metal, and acrylic, they create, polish, and adjust appliances to ensure precise fit and function. Technicians use CAD/CAM software and hand tools, ensuring high-quality, customized, and durable restorations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prosthetic Fabrication: Design and manufacture crowns, bridges, dentures (full and partial), veneers, and orthodontic appliances using materials such as ceramics, acrylics, and precious metals.

· Digital Workflow: Operate and maintain CAD/CAM systems, 3D printers, and digital scanning equipment to create precise dental restorations.

· Model Preparation: Pour dental impressions and create accurate stone or digital models of patient anatomy.

· Quality Control: Ensure all fabricated devices meet functional and aesthetic specifications, including shade matching and occlusal accuracy.

· Equipment Maintenance: Sterilize, disinfect, and maintain lab equipment (e.g., furnaces, lathes, casting machines) in accordance with clinical guidelines.

· Compliance: Adhere to MOHAP infection control, waste management, and safety standards for handling hazardous materials.

Required Skills:

· Precision and Detail: High attention to detail for accurate, customized work.

· Technical Proficiency: Ability to use dental tools, hand tools, and dental CAD software.

· Knowledge of Dentistry: Understanding of dental anatomy, materials, and occlusion.

Experience Requirements

· A minimum of 5–7 years of experience with a specializing in ceramics or CAD/CAM.

Educational Qualifications

· A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Technology (or Dental Lab Technology) from a recognized institution.

· Certification in dental laboratory procedures, including removable prostheses, fixed prostheses, and orthodontics.

· Digital Skills (Preferred): Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (ExoCAD, 3Shape) and 3D printingtechnologies is increasingly required for modern dental lab roles.

Licensing and Regulatory Requirements

· Candidates must obtain a valid license from the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) to practice in Fujairah.

· Passing the MOHAP Prometric exam is mandatory.

Working Conditions

· Primarily work in dental labs, with limited direct patient contact.

· Often work with hazardous materials or equipment requiring strict safety protocols.

· Candidates must be flexible in working different shifts (morning, mid, evening) according to company operations and requirements.
