Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team! Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
- Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as OpenDental, Dentrix or Eaglesoft, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflows
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance authorizations, and handle billing processes including medical collection.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing accurate information and routing calls appropriately
- Maintain accurate patient records by updating medical histories, dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and other relevant documentation in EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth
- Assist with insurance verification, claims submission, payment posting, and follow-up on outstanding balances
- Support clinic operations by managing filing systems, medical records management, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness while supporting care plans and medical billing procedures
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a dental receptionist or in a medical office environment with strong familiarity in dental terminology and office management practices
- Proficiency in OpenDental, or similar platforms;
- Knowledge of medical coding including experience with medical billing and Medicare claims preferred
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; typing speed of at least 10 key digits per second for efficient data entry
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Exceptional customer service skills with effective phone etiquette and professional communication abilities
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy clinic setting while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and office support tasks
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental software like OpenDental
