Duties
- Greet patients warmly and handle patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and care
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and manage billing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer multi-line phone systems efficiently, providing excellent patient service and addressing inquiries promptly
- Assist with insurance verification, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and billing procedures to ensure accurate financial transactions
- Manage office supplies, filing systems, and electronic health records (EHR) to support seamless clinic operations
- Support the team with administrative tasks such as data entry (10 key typing), appointment reminders, and care plan documentation
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical collection processes, medical billing, and insurance procedures including Medicare and Medicaid
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix; familiarity with Eaglesoft is a plus
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing accuracy, and familiarity with office management software
- Deep understanding of dental terminology combined with medical terminology for effective communication
- Experience with HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Ability to navigate multi-system environments such as Athenahealth or other health information management platforms
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional phone etiquette, organizational skills, attention to detail in documentation review, and ability to multitask in a busy clinic setting
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; strong office experience combined with customer service skills will be highly regarded
