Dental Receptionist

Job Summary

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression
  • Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes
  • Collect payments, process medical collections, and manage billing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Maintain precise medical records and documentation review for accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly
  • Assist with patient intake procedures, including updating medical history and dental information
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth flow of patient care plans and treatment schedules
  • Handle filing of dental records, medical records, and other administrative documents efficiently
  • Support office management tasks such as inventory control, appointment reminders, and general clerical duties

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a clinical or dental setting
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and healthcare documentation standards
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms like Meditech or Epic
  • Experience with insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual environments preferred
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations with attention to detail in documentation review
  • Strong organizational skills with clerical experience in filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and office management tasks
  • Previous clinic or hospital experience highly desirable; familiarity with multi-line phone systems is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining professionalism and positive attitude

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
