Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming atmosphere at the front desk
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and claims processing
- Collect payments, process co-pays, and handle medical collections with precision and confidentiality
- Manage patient records by updating information in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper coding using CPT, ICD-9/10 codes for procedures and diagnoses
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and professionally
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and office documents, supporting overall clinic operations
- Assist with intake procedures, including patient registration and medical history updates
- Support office management tasks such as inventory control, appointment reminders, and clerical support
Skills
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a busy clinic environment
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms
- Familiarity with medical billing processes including insurance verification, medical coding (CPT, ICD), and collections
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
- Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dental terminology and clinic-specific workflows to streamline patient intake and documentation review
- Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and professional phone etiquette
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems and medical office management software such as Dentrix
