Overview

Duties
- Greet patients warmly, answer multi-line phone systems, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes for various providers including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and perform medical billing using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Review documentation for accuracy, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and maintain meticulous medical records and files.
- Assist with intake procedures, patient check-in/out, and updating patient information in EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems such as eClinicalWorks or similar platforms.
- Support office management tasks including filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and maintaining a clean and organized front desk area.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding care plans, billing inquiries, and appointment scheduling while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with dental terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical billing procedures.
- Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft), EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Meditech), and health information management tools such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clerical experience in front desk operations and medical administrative support.
