Harborview Kids Dental and Orthodontics is a thriving private dental clinic with this new location in Covington. We provide dental care to kids and comprehensive orthodontics treatments for patients of all ages. Our commitment to exceptional care begins with exceptional people. With this goal, we are seeking an experienced Dental Receptionist to join our clinical team.
This role requires at least 2 years of work experience as dental receptionist, with hands-on experience of operating Open Dental (and smilier software), and insurance verification, claims submission and payment collection. This role is crucial in coordinating patient scheduling, optimizing clinical workflow, and improving patient satisfaction.
Because majority of our visitors are kids, teens, and their parents, ideal candidate should be able to interact with them in the conversation, build trust at the first impression, and provide exceptional customer service consistently.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and families warmly upon arrival and create a welcoming environment.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries about services, appointments, and policies.
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments efficiently.
- Check patients in and out during their visits.
- Communicate with dentists, hygienists, and assistants to coordinate patient flow.
- Send appointment reminders.
- Follow up with patients regarding missed appointments or treatment plans.
- Help explain basic office policies and procedures to patients.
- Maintain patient records in the dental EHR.
- Verify patient demographics, contact information, and medical history forms.
- Manage daily appointment schedules and coordinate with dental providers.
- Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments.
- Assist patients with insurance questions and explain coverage when possible.
- Collect co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
- Process payments and maintain accurate financial records.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience working as a dental receptionist or in a similar role in the dental clinic .
- Proficiency with appointment scheduling using Open Dental.
- Proficiency with insurance verification and claim submission.
- Proficiency with patient check in, consent forms, check out, and payment collection.
- Bilingual skills are preferred (e.g., Spanish).
- Working knowledge of medical procedure codes, fee schedules, and payment processing.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
