Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures using dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Schedule appointments efficiently while managing multiple-line phone systems and maintaining accurate calendars for providers
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Collect patient information, update medical records, and review documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Handle billing processes including medical collection tasks, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage patient inquiries via phone with professional phone etiquette and provide exceptional customer service
- Maintain organized filing of dental records, medical records, and other administrative documents in accordance with health information management standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist with clinic or dental office experience
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms like Meditech or Epic
- Ability to verify insurance benefits including Medicare and other third-party payers effectively
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and typing (including 10-key typing)
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and office management tasks
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and secure handling of health information
- Prior clinic or hospital experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental clinic workflows is preferred
- Strong communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette to provide outstanding patient service
