Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety within our clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Sterilization Technician will be responsible for maintaining sterilization protocols and supporting the clinical team in delivering exceptional patient care. Duties
- Perform sterilization of dental instruments and equipment following established protocols to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of sterilization areas, ensuring all tools and supplies are readily available for clinical staff.
- Assist with chairside procedures, providing support to dentists during treatments while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Document sterilization processes accurately in accordance with HIPAA regulations and maintain medical records as required.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners, ensuring they function properly at all times.
- Collaborate with dental assistants and receptionists to facilitate smooth patient flow and ensure all necessary materials are prepared for appointments.
- Stay updated on current infection control practices, dental terminology, and advancements in sterilization technology.
Experience
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry being a plus.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical imaging techniques, including X-ray procedures, is beneficial.
- Understanding of medical documentation, coding, and record-keeping practices is essential.
- Experience with four-handed dentistry techniques and vital signs monitoring is advantageous.
- Familiarity with various dental specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry will enhance your application.
