Dental Sterilization Technician

Position Summary

The Dental Sterile Technician is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, organizing, and maintaining dental instruments and equipment in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and office protocols. This role is essential to ensuring a safe and efficient clinical environment for patients and staff.

This position offers an opportunity for professional growth within our practice. For motivated individuals, the role may evolve into a Chairside Dental Assistant position over time. Training, mentorship, and support for obtaining the appropriate certifications will be provided based on performance, aptitude, and practice needs.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare and organize instrument trays for scheduled procedures.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves.
  • Monitor sterilization logs and quality assurance records.
  • Stock treatment rooms with supplies and instruments.
  • Assist with operatory turnover between patients.
  • Manage inventory of sterilization and infection-control supplies.
  • Follow all infection-control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and supply shortages promptly.
  • Assist the clinical team with seating and dismissing patients as needed to support efficient patient flow and office operations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection control and patient safety.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift supplies throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Ability to assist with seating and dismissing patients as needed.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a dental office and/or sterile processing environment.
  • Knowledge of sterilization procedures and infection-control protocols.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in dentistry, including advancement to a Chairside Dental Assistant role.
  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Schedule

  • Monday–Thursday 7:00am-4:00pm

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
