The Dentist at Jamestown Family Dental Clinic plays a vital role in providing comprehensive, high-quality oral health services to our patients. This is a four-day, 32-hour a week, benefited position. You will be responsible for diagnosis, treatment planning, and performing a full scope of restorative and major dental procedures. This position also involves clinical supervision of assigned Dental Hygienists and active participation as a key member of the Clinic team to ensure excellent patient care, operational efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care and Treatment
- Diagnose, treat, and manage a full range of routine and complex dental conditions for patients of all ages.
- Develop and execute comprehensive treatment plans, including performing restorative and major dental procedures.
- Provide patient and staff education on proper oral hygiene, dental health, and prescribed treatments.
- Consult with other Tribal dental providers and refer patients to specialty care as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records by completing all charting within 24 hours of the patient encounter.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Provide clinical supervision to assigned Dental Hygienists.
- Actively participate in Clinic team meetings and processes, contributing to the review of Clinic productivity, scheduling procedures, and establishing guidelines for care and treatment.
- Offer guidance to the Director of Health Services, Deputy Director of Health Services, and the Tribal Council in developing and implementing services to meet the needs of the Tribal population.
Compliance and Quality
- Ensure compliance with all Tribal dental policies and procedures.
- Strictly adhere to OSHA requirements, Infection Control Guidelines, the Occupational Exposure Control Plan, and HIPAA standards to maintain the safety and privacy of patients and staff.
- Participate in the dental quality assurance program and regular reviews to uphold the highest standards of care.
- Follow established protocols and procedures with meticulous attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
Education and Licensing
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited dental school.
- Current and unrestricted Dental Practice License in the state of Washington.
- Current DEA registration.
Experience and Skills
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in general dentistry.
- Proven knowledge and skill in providing general dentistry services to patients of all ages.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to solve problems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage conflict and crisis professionally.
- Computer literate with the ability to navigate electronic health records and standard office software.
