About Us

Lana'i Community Health Center (LCHC), located on the island of Lana'i, is deeply rooted in a unique history of transitions and cultural diversity. This island has undergone economic and lifestyle shifts driven by changing ownership over the years. These transitions have shaped the island's residents, creating a community of great cultural richness, with a significant population of immigrants.

LCHC serves the entire population of Lana'i, with a special emphasis on those living at or below 200% of the federal poverty level and the underinsured or uninsured. The center provides services in a culturally sensitive manner, offering translation services when needed, and ensures that no one is denied care due to an inability to pay.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, LCHC accepts all insurances, helping patients navigate their coverage. Located centrally in Lana'i City, at 333 Sixth St., LCHC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ensuring that comprehensive healthcare is accessible to all residents, reflecting the island's unique history and diversity.

Role Overview

As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive dental services to patients at LCHC. Your duties will encompass a wide range of dental care, including screenings, preventive measures, restorative treatments, and emergency interventions. Additionally, you will actively engage in community screenings and educational initiatives to promote oral health awareness. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the well-being of our patients and the community at large.

Requirements

  • Part-time or full-time availability to meet the demands of patient care and community engagement activities.
  • At least one to year of experience in the practice of dentistry beyond dental school required; 2 or more years preferred.
  • Willingness to adhere to clinic protocols and standards of care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Dedication to providing high-quality dental care with a focus on patient comfort and satisfaction.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving needs and priorities within the clinic and community.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state dental license in good standing.
  • Proficient in a wide range of dental procedures, including but not limited to screenings, preventive care, restorative treatments, and emergency dentistry.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate patients on oral health practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying abreast of advancements in dental technology and techniques.
  • Experience working in community health settings or with underserved populations preferred but not required.

Salary

  • Range from $156,000 - $176,800
