Founded in 1969 by the Daughters of Charity and the Ladies of Charity of Metropolitan Kansas City, Seton
Center, a Community Health Ministry of Ascension Health, is dedicated to serving neighbors in need in Kansas
City’s urban core.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Seton Center has evolved into a comprehensive community and
neighborhood center providing a food pantry, rent and utility assistance, thrift store, and one of Kansas City’s
largest safety net dental clinics.
Seton Center is funded through foundation grants, donations from individuals, corporations, civic groups and
faith communities, and fees for dental services.
Seton Center helps break cycles of poverty through our dental, social and educational programs that address
current community needs.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Dentist is responsible for providing compassionate, high-quality dental care to our patients. S/he will
provide leadership, management and direction to clinical team and support team members in all areas of
patient treatment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Diagnose dental conditions and plan oral health care in consultation with patients and parents
● Ensure treatment plan is reviewed with each patient / parent and informed consent is granted for
treatments rendered
● Provide direct supervision to clinical staff members, including coaching and performance management.
● Provide great customer service by offering same day care when possible and ensuring parent / patient
satisfaction
● Educate patients and parents about improving and maintaining oral health care
● Obtain diagnostic pre-operative radiographs for every procedure
● Local Anesthesia must be limited appropriately
● Effectively and safely administer behavior management techniques to enable delivery of dental care
especially for uncooperative children
● Develop treatment plans for patients consistent with the American Dental Association Guidelines
● Adhere to all federal and government regulations, including the state dental board rules
and regulations, HIPAA and OSHA regulations
● Meet clinical standards, including monitoring dental unit waterline management (DUWL) and ensuring
sterilization logs are updated.
● Conduct behavior in a manner that is professional and courteous to all patients, parents, and office
staff at all times
● Consistently portray a positive working attitude that fosters a pleasant work environment
● Participate in daily huddles, clinic staff meetings and Seton Center All Staff meetings
● Maintain a consistent schedule in response to patient need
● Be a good steward of supplies and other resources to minimize waste
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds and be able
to twist, turn, bend and stoop.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Majority of work is performed in a clinical environment. Requires availability for extended hours during peak
patient periods. Hours may change to meet the business needs.
REQUIREMENTS
● DDS/DMD from a dental education program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
● Two (2) years practice experience and/or completion of a residency from an accredited postgraduate
program.
● A current, valid license to practice dentistry in the state of Missouri and providing patient care (License
must be in good standing)
● Malpractice insurance (in place before start date) -provided by Seton Center
● CPR/BLS Certification (current before start date)
● NPI provider number (in place before start date)
● DEA number (application submitted before start date)
● CDS (in states where applicable)
● Experience with electronic dental records
● Must love working with a diverse group/ population

Pay: $150,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
