Job Title: Dentist – Correctional Health (Part-Time, County Facilities)

Pay: $130 per hour

Work Locations:

• Sacramento County Main Jail – 651 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814
• Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center (RCCC) – 12500 Bruceville Road, Elk Grove, CA 95757

Cross-training at both facilities is required.

Schedule:
10-hour shifts | 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM and 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Weekend and weekday availability required

Job Description:
Sacramento County Correctional Health Services (CHS) is seeking a Dentist to provide preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic dental care in a secure correctional setting. This role offers meaningful public-sector work serving the inmate population at both Main Jail (Downtown Sacramento) and RCCC (Elk Grove).

Responsibilities:

• Perform general dentistry: exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, dentures, root canals, and emergency procedures
• Diagnose and treat oral diseases and conditions
• Administer local anesthesia and perform procedures safely
• Maintain accurate dental charts and records in accordance with County and state standards
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventative care
• Follow infection-control and safety protocols at all times
• Collaborate with nursing, medical, and mental-health staff as part of an interdisciplinary team

Requirements:

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited school
• Active, unrestricted California Dental License
• Current CPR certification (AHA or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years of dental experience (correctional or public-health preferred)
• Must pass County background and security clearance
