Department (Category) Specialist

Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of all data in the Product Information Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provides first level helpline support to POS Managers and Department Managers concerning product attributes, authorization, retail and cost data.
  • Maintains all aspects of product information including description, department, attributes, costs, retails etc.
  • Researches, tracks, escalates and resolves product issues.
  • Works with Sales Managers to research, escalate and resolve data accuracy issues.
  • Works with the Schematic Manager to communicate product discontinues, pack changes and verifies new items to ensure that the store schematic files are accurate and up to date.
  • Supports the vendor community by compiling the necessary vendor forms, fielding questions, running requested reports and providing updated forms as necessary.
  • Performs daily database audits.
  • Assists Sales Managers with reports, scheduling and ad product notification.
  • Processes contracts, verifies accuracy of contracts, maintains billing files and works with Accounting department to resolve billing issues.
  • Works with Sales Managers and Advertising department to enter and proof weekly flyers and mailers.
  • Works with promotion support regarding specialized promotions a Sales Manager is planning.
  • Actively participates in the clerical support of the department including preparing correspondence, maintaining adequate backup and filing system, document copying and maintenance of policies/procedures.
  • Works independently on special projects involving the creation of formal PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheet management and other creative duties as assigned.
  • Responds in a timely and service-oriented manner to requests from store and Support Center crew members, business partners and other outside vendors via phone calls, emails and in-person contact.
  • Works in and cultivates a team-oriented work environment by sharing work knowledge and offering assistance to co-workers as needed, including vacation coverage.
  • Maintains confidentiality of department/company data, initiatives and other sensitive information.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures creating a professional and enjoyable work environment.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 2+ years in an office support role of other combination of training, education and experiences including operating PCs, multi-line telephones, copiers and scanners.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communications and writing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Commitment to financial accuracy when processing contracts and excellent follow-through in gathering missing information when needed.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Math skills necessary, but not limited to reading, interpreting reports and understand pricing philosophies.
  • Must be 18 years of age due to equipment use and work environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Workspace will be primarily in the office environment in an assigned cubicle. Occasional travel by car as needed to accomplish work in store locations and other off-site business locations.
General office schedule is Monday-Friday with work hours between 8am-5pm.
Physical activity: Standing/walking, sitting, typing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
Computer, printer, scanner, telephone, 10-key calculator, fax machine, copier, hand-held scanner.
The pay range is $21.00 to $28.00 per hour. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (between 7-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).


Pay Transparency:



Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility). [If applicable:] Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus.
