About Simi Valley

The City of Simi Valley, Home of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, was incorporated in 1969. It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 41.7 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. The current estimated population is 126,414, yet Simi Valley maintains a unique balance of open space and City amenities.

Are you passionate about expanding your experiences from court appearances on criminal law matters to advising key City staff on issues involving Constitutional Law, Land Use, Cable and Franchise laws, Criminal law, Transactions, Public Records Act, the Brown Act, and so much more?

Do you want to gain a strong understanding and ability to advise key city department heads and staff members on the interpretation and application of law, regulations, and best practices related to topics such as land use, employment law, and elections law?

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Salary range $116,041.59 - $150,854.09 annually with Excellent Benefits
    • 3% Cost of Living Adjustment increase on 7/3/26
  • Full-time regular position
  • 9/80 work schedule with alternating Monday or Friday off

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

  • A Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association or State Bar of California accredited law school, or a law school registered as a Distance-Learning Law School with The Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California, is required.

Experience:

  • Depending upon assignment, prior municipal and/or litigation experience is preferred.

License or Certificate:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Current membership in the California State Bar.
