Position: Deputy Claims Manager
Location: Basingstoke or Dorking with Hybrid Working

What will you bring?

We're looking for a Deputy Claims Manager to join us here at Unum, where you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the strategic and operational management of our Group Income Protection and/or Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover claims functions. You'll bring your technical knowledge, communication skills, and collaborative mindset to ensure high-quality claims assessment and service delivery.

You'll bring proven experience in Income Protection (or Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover) and the ability to manage complex claims with technical precision. You will proactively develop the knowledge within the team to establish and maintain excellent customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the assessment and processing of Group Income Protection and/or Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover claims.
• Apply in-depth technical knowledge to complex claims and reinsurance processes.
• Partner effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive outcomes.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement.
• Manage competing priorities with confidence and clarity.
• Translate data insights into actionable improvements in performance and service.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in Group Income Protection and/or Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover claims assessment.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and manage conflict constructively.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

The ideal candidate will come from a similar background in Group Risk Insurance.
