DEPUTY CLERK / SR. DEPUTY CLERK

SUPERVISOR: Chief Deputy Clerk

SALARY RANGES: Deputy Clerk-$27.61 to $44.97/hr.
Sr. Deputy Clerk-$30.45 to $49.58/hr.

Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Chief Deputy Clerk, receives, reviews, processes and records real estate and other transactions, maintains official county and public records, and assures that all documentation is properly indexed and recorded in accordance with federal and state statutes and county codes. Serves as recording clerk for the County Council and performs other Council support functions. Serves as Clerk to the Probate Court. Provides assistance to the public in person and via the telephone, fax and email. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Registered voter in New Mexico.
• Two years’ experience in general administrative support in a customer service environment.
• Must possess or have ability to obtain within first sixty days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license.
• Must possess or obtain certification as an Election Technician by the Secretary of State’s Office before the first primary or general election and maintain thereafter.
• Must successfully complete a thorough background investigation.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for Sr. Deputy Clerk:

• Four years’ experience in a Clerk’s office, with one year experience performing document processing or election administrative support.

Preferred Qualifications for Sr. Deputy Clerk:

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Communication, Political Science, Public Administration or related field.
• Certified Public Official (CPO) program certificate.
