Job Overview
The Onondaga County Law Department is looking to hire a full-time attorney to join our Litigation Unit.
Ideal Experience and Skills
- Equipped to handle complex state and federal civil litigation independently from inception through trial, and if necessary, appeal
- Significantly experienced in drafting and responding to discovery demands, taking/defending depositions, drafting and arguing motions and motion opposition, and performing legal research
- Able to independently handle an active and sizeable caseload of civil matters in state and federal court
- Maintains thorough knowledge of, and experience with, the CPLR, FRCP and NDNY Local Rules
- Works collaboratively and collegially with other attorneys and support staff
- Demonstrates intrinsic motivation, confidence, integrity, professional accountability, and excellent communication
Minimum Qualifications
- Admitted to the NYS bar
- At least two years (ideally 4+ years) experience as first chair counsel in state and federal civil actions, although less experience may be considered
- Resident of Onondaga County or prepared to relocate

Pay: $106,315.00 - $115,883.00 per year
