ABOUT THE POSITION
The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is seeking a Deputy Director of Facilities Services and Capital Projects division. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Services and Capital Projects, this position oversees comprehensive programs that ensure the Court’s physical infrastructure supports efficient operations and a safe, functional environment for judicial officers, staff, and the public.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct supervision and support of approximately 5+ direct report managers, supervisors, and administrative support personnel and approximately 30+ indirect reports.

Assist the Director of Facilities and Capital Projects with overall department management, including administration of the budget, department goals, objectives, programs, and projects under the department’s responsibility.

Leverage relationships between the Court, the Judicial Conference of California (JCC), the County of Los Angeles, approval authorities, and both internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot and propose solutions to complex issues related to project and program delivery.

Utilize knowledge of planning processes, building codes, building trades, building materials, building systems, contracts, construction contractors, and their subs as well as Court policies, procedures and procurement regulations to diagnose and propose solutions to complex design and construction issues.

Offer support and consultation to the Director of Facilities and Capital Projects as well as the Facilities Administrator in all activities related to the delivery of capital projects including but not limited to strategic and masterplan studies, Facility assessments, and all project delivery phases based on state budgetary processes, the JCC Capital Outlay Program, and ranking processes.
This is an at-will managerial position. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act (SB 2140) authorizes the Court to exclude managerial employees from the employment protection provisions of the Act subject to meet and confer.
THIS IS A TELEWORK ELIGIBLE OPPORTUNITY
This position may be eligible for partial telework following an initial training period and contingent upon the needs of the Court.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the final filing date of this bulletin:
OPTION I: Bachelor’s degree* from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities or capital projects position, at least two (2) of which must have been managing** a facilities or capital projects department through subordinate supervisory staff or managing complex facilities projects with organization-wide impact.
OPTION II: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a facilities or capital projects position, at least five (5) of which must have been managing** a facilities or capital projects department through subordinate supervisory staff or managing complex facilities projects with organization-wide impact.

**Managing is defined as having responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, and administering the work of a functional area or program.
Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio (e.g., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.
