Deputy Director of Finance and Human Resources

<Job Overview>

The Shiawassee County Road Commission is seeking a Deputy Director of Finance and Human Resources to manage day-to-day financial operations and HR functions. This hands-on position focuses on accounts payable, inventory management, and payroll backup, while supporting leadership with broader finance and HR reporting. Experience with boards is a plus!

<Responsibilities>

• Full-cycle accounts payable processing
• Inventory tracking and control
• Payroll backup and reporting support
• General ledger entries and account reconciliations
• Assist with audits, budgets, and financial reports
• Support HR functions, including onboarding and benefits

<Qualifications>

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in accounting/finance (public sector preferred)
• Experience with accounts payable, inventory, and/or payroll
• Familiarity with governmental accounting is a plus
• Experience supporting a board or governing body is a plus

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
