Dermatologist – Clinical Research Opportunity (San Juan, PR)

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive skin examinations and assess dermatological conditions using advanced medical imaging and diagnostic tools
  • Participate in clinical trials by recruiting suitable patients, obtaining informed consent, and documenting treatment responses in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic
  • Administer specialized treatments including botulinum toxin injections, topical therapies, and other dermatological procedures
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across specialties such as endocrinology, immunology, and plastic surgery to develop personalized care plans
  • Maintain detailed patient records adhering to HIPAA regulations, ensuring accuracy in medical records and coding (ICD/CPT) for billing and research purposes
  • Engage in ongoing research activities including data collection, analysis, and presentation of findings at scientific conferences or publications
  • Educate patients on skin health, preventive care, and treatment options while providing compassionate patient service

Experience

  • Proven experience as a licensed dermatologist with a strong background in clinical research environments
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms used for documentation and data management
  • Knowledge of dermatological procedures including suturing, cryotherapy, laser treatments, and phototherapy
  • Experience working within inpatient or outpatient settings, ideally within hospital or Level I trauma center environments
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret medical imaging relevant to dermatology and related specialties such as ophthalmology or radiology
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology related to skin conditions, and pharmacology for dermatologic treatments
  • Prior involvement in clinical trials or research projects focusing on dermatology or related fields like immunology or oncology is highly desirable
