Dermatologist Medical Assistant

Award-winning clinical Dermatology clinic has full-time opening for an experienced Clinical Dermatology Medical Assistant with a minimum of 2 year's General Dermatology experience, suture removal, surgical procedure assistance, and scribing within EMA, to join our team in Centreville, VA. Start in 1 to 2 weeks with immediate Benefits (full list below)


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2+ year's recent experience in clinical Dermatology
  • Lead Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant
  • Dermatology procedures: keloid removal, skintag removal, suture removal, sterilization, specimen collection
  • Post-op physician instructions, PA's, prescription refills
  • Scribing
  • EMR/EHR: EMA (Electronic Medical Assistant )


RATE $22.07 per hour - $24 per hour | Based on experience

SHIFT Monday to Friday, 8a - 5p

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms or operative rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
  • Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician following safety protocol of right dose, right patient, right route, right drug and noting expiration date
  • Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, wound care instructions and physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures.
  • Assist with minor skin procedures, such as applying dressings, removing sutures, and changing bandages

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Dermatology Clinical setting for at least 2 to 3 years, recently, i.e. internal medicine.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
  • Management and organizational skills to support the leadership
  • Proficiency in medication administration and understanding of medical-surgical protocols.
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of clinical systems for managing patient records and appointments.
  • Ability to take vital signs accurately and respond to patient needs promptly.
  • Familiarity with inhalation therapies is a plus but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as a medical assistant required
