Dermatology Medical Assistant

Certified medical assistant wanted to help our practice grow. Courtesy, kindness, reliability and a teamwork attitude are required. We have an amazing team! We are seeking a bright, capable, and self-driven individual(s). Our medical assistants work closely with our dermatologist and aestheticians to provide exceptional care. Experience is preferred, and pay will reflect the level of competence and skills of the person(s) we hire. Experience is not required, but preferred. We are willing to train the right person for a long term position. Interested applicants should attach their resume. Below is a basic outline of our medical assistants' day-to-day duties.

ROOM PREPARATION

  • At start of each day, checks all patient rooms to assure that they are ready for patients, cleaned and stocked.
  • Fills Cryogen Canister with liquid nitrogen.

PATIENT VISIT

  • Escort patients to exam room, document a brief history as instructed by the physician.
  • Assist patient with disrobing if necessary.
  • Assist physician with exam of patient. Scribe for physician. Obtain samples for the patient or other supplies that are needed during the visit.
  • Answer patient questions if possible, refers others to the physician.
  • Clean rooms between patients, changing table paper and cleaning tables and counter tops etc. as necessary.
  • Set up rooms for procedures with the designated instruments and sterile field.
  • Assist physician with procedures as assigned.
  • Explain procedure to patient and obtains informed consent.
  • Provide wound care instructions to patient after procedure.
  • Log in and out all pathology specimens and orders for other lab work.

MAINTENANCE

  • Transport used instruments from room to instrument maintenance area, keeping safety standards in mind.
  • Clean instruments, wraps appropriately, and autoclaves.
  • Check rooms at end of day to make certain they are stocked for the next day.
  • Maintain inventory of medical and surgical supplies and places orders appropriately.
  • Keep sample closets in order, making certain that all expired medications are appropriately discarded.
  • Call pharmaceutical representatives for more samples when needed.

OTHER

  • Call patients with the results of biopsies as directed by the physician.
  • Return phone calls to patients, giving advice or refilling prescriptions as directed by the physician.
  • Take photographs as needed.
  • Treat all patients and other staff members with respect, be polite and professional.
  • Additional duties assigned by the physician(s) or administrator

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
