Design 1 Interior Designer

Design1, Arkansas’s premiere showroom for interior design, is hiring for the position of Interior Designer. Design1 is a 34,000 square foot showroom at Lumber1 Home Center’s Little Rock location on Col. Glenn Road and I-430. With spaces dedicated to windows and doors, lighting, flooring, cabinets, countertops, window coverings and appliances, Design1 is the most state-of-the art, expansive design showroom outside of large markets like Dallas, Chicago and New York. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and work in a gorgeous space.

General Objectives:

Our Interior Designers work closely with professional contractors, architects, designers and walk-in customers to create individualized design solutions to sell Design1/Lumber1 products and services. The designs include space planning, fabric coordination, product selection and overall project design. Successful execution is evidenced by developing individualized designs and achieving sales goals in a flexible relationship-based selling environment. Some projects may require a team or partnership-based approach.

The Interior Designer’s performance is measured based on performance categories (teamwork, customer service, communication skills, decision-making, project development, presentation, and technical skills) that contribute to the success of Design1 and Lumer1. Interior Designers are compensated with a base salary in addition to commission earned through sales completed. This is a full-time position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Create design solutions that are consistent with the customer’s preference and budget.

· Sell Design1/Lumber1 products and services.

· Represent the Design1 and Lumber1 brands in all customer interactions. When in Design1, professionally greet customers to establish rapport and obtain appointments for design consultations. Must also evaluate the customer’s needs and provide an individualized design solution that closes the sale.

· Educate customers about the complimentary design service Design1 provides, offering as little or as much design service as a customer desires.

· Stay current on design and color trends to create fashionable design solutions.

· Coordinate with the team to provide exceptional service to customers, before and after the sale, by promptly keeping customers informed of their order status including any delays.

· Contribute to the development and on-going upkeep of Design1’s showroom and offerings.

· Enter quotes and orders utilizing the retail point of sale system.

· Perform any other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

· Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience.

· Minimum of two (2) years of practical interior design experience.

· Broad knowledge of interior design and effective sales techniques.

· Working knowledge of online sales and design tools.

· Good listening skills with excellent oral and written communication skills also required.

· Experience using interactive technology to view design concepts such as augmented reality, virtual reality and other visualization tools desired.

· Willing and capable of learning new technologies.
