To manage and coordinate the design process post-sales handover, including studying tender documents, reconfirming technical requirements, performing capacity calculations, coordinating with clients and consultants, generating material indents, and ensuring timely submittals of drawings. The role is critical in bridging the gap between design, procurement, and execution while maintaining documentation integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tender and Document Study
- Study and analyze Tender, BOQ, Job Task Sheets (JTS), URS drawings, and other documents handed over from the Sales team.
- Requirement Reconfirmation and Capacity Calculations
- Reconfirm scope requirements (HVAC, Electrical, BMS, Mechanical Utility, CRP, CRE, etc.) on documents like RDS.
- Perform capacity calculations aligned with scope and standards.
- Ambiguity Identification
- Identify and highlight any discrepancies or ambiguities in the BOQ or technical documents during the design process.
- Design Calculations and Drawing Coordination
- Provide accurate design calculations to the Design/Draughtsman team.
- Ensure all drawings are submitted as per project schedules.
- Client & Consultant Coordination
- Act as a liaison for drawing approvals and technical clarifications.
- Ensure timely approvals for all design submissions.
- Material Indenting and Documentation
- Generate indents based on approved drawings with quantitative justifications.
- Maintain proper documentation for GFC drawings, revisions, approvals, and submittals – digitally and physically.
- Client PO Variance & Product Submittals
- Evaluate PO variance and coordinate updated material indents.
- Assist purchase team in vendor selection, product submittals, and technical qualifications.
- Reporting & Tracking
- Prepare and submit weekly reports for each project covering drawing status, submittals, and pending approvals.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
- Additional certifications in HVAC/MEP design (preferred)
Experience:
- 5 to 7 years of experience in design coordination or similar role in the construction, MEP, or pharmaceutical industry
- Exposure to tender documentation, BOQ understanding, and project coordination
- Experience in client/consultant interaction
Skills:
- Proficiency in interpreting technical documents, drawings, and tender specifications
- Accuracy in performing HVAC/MEP capacity calculations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective coordination across departments (design, purchase, project)
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
Knowledge:
- Good understanding of HVAC, electrical, utility, and MEP systems
- Familiarity with procurement and material indent processes
- Knowledge of document control, revision tracking, and archiving
- Understanding of project execution cycles, milestones, and drawing workflows
