Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver Design and Technology lessons in line with the school curriculum.
- Teach a variety of DT disciplines, including product design, resistant materials, graphics, engineering principles, electronics, CAD/CAM, and manufacturing processes.
- Develop students’ design thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and practical workshop skills.
- Guide students through the design cycle, including research, planning, prototyping, testing, evaluation, and production.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress and achievement.
- Maintain a safe workshop and classroom environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage and maintain tools, machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Integrate modern technologies and digital design software into teaching and learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Support extracurricular activities, design competitions, exhibitions, and STEM-related initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support student development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Design and Technology, Product Design, Engineering, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification/certification (PGCE, QTS, State Teaching License, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably within a recognized curriculum (British, American, IB, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of design processes, materials technology, manufacturing techniques, and workshop practices.
- Experience using CAD software and digital design tools is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of workshop health and safety requirements.
