Design Consultant

The Design Consultant plays a vital role in bringing our custom homes to life. This position guides homeowners through the entire selections process — from appliances and fixtures to paint colors and finishes — ensuring every decision aligns with their vision, budget, and construction timeline.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about residential design. This role serves as the bridge between homeowners, trade partners, and the construction team to ensure a seamless and timely building experience.

Key Responsibilities

Homeowner Selections & Coordination

• Guide homeowners through all required design selections for their custom home
• Coordinate and schedule meetings with applicable trade partners in accordance with the construction schedule
• Lead and facilitate the final selections meeting to confirm and approve all homeowner choices prior to procurement
• Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the selections process
• Attend selections meetings and participate in final walkthroughs to verify installed selections and overall project completion

Process Management & Documentation

• Track and manage the selections process for each residential project to prevent schedule delays
• Identify required selections based on construction phase and scope of work
• Input and maintain accurate records of all approved selections, pricing, change orders, and documentation
• Create a comprehensive visual look book detailing all homeowner selections and specifications for superintendent reference

Vendor & Budget Coordination

• Ensure vendors and trade partners submit accurate estimates and proposals aligned with homeowner selections
• Review proposals for accuracy, scope consistency, and budget compliance
• Clearly communicate upgrade options, cost differences, and budget impacts to homeowners in a professional manner

Product Knowledge & Presentation

• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of residential materials, finishes, fixtures, and product options across trades
• Gather and present material samples, specification sheets, and visual references to assist homeowner decision-making

Qualifications

• Experience in residential design, interior design, home building, or construction coordination preferred
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Excellent communication and client-facing presentation abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and follow-through skills
• Proficiency with Apple or Microsoft Office and/or project management software
