About Twin Cities Closet Company

Twin Cities Closet Company is a family-owned custom storage solutions company serving Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. We design and build high-quality closets, garage systems, pantries, and specialty storage for residential and commercial clients.

We're built on five core values: Dedication, Innovation, Solution-Based thinking, Client-Focus, and Quality-Driven work. We need team members who embody these values and people who are committed to excellence, think creatively to solve problems, put clients first, and take pride in the quality of their work.

We operate on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) while focusing on our team’s personal and professional development. We host quarterly kick-off meetings to review highlights, goals, numbers. We have guest speakers help develop our skills and culture in company workshops. Each team hosts an L10 meeting to focus on the most important issues at hand and create action steps working together.

Our purpose is to empower an extraordinary team that delivers exceptional service.

The Role

We need a Design Consultant who can do three things well: understand what clients need, design beautiful and functional storage solutions, and guide them through the sales process with confidence and expertise. This isn't a pure sales role, and it isn't a pure design role.

You'll meet with clients in their homes, at our showroom, and on project job sites. You'll assess their space, listen to their needs, design custom solutions in Cabinet Vision, present proposals, close sales, and stay involved through project completion. Clients buy from people they trust to deliver great design, attention to detail, and communicate clearly along the way.

This role suits someone with a background in closet/cabinet design, kitchen & bath design, or related fields who enjoys working directly with clients and sees the sales process as part of the creative collaboration. You'll have creative freedom, work on a variety of projects (existing homes, remodels, new builds, commercial spaces), and see your designs come to life.

You'll be joining a team of skilled Design Consultants. You'll work independently on your sales pipeline but collaborate regularly on design challenges, process improvements, and best practices in twice-monthly team meetings.

What You'll Do

  • Meet with prospective clients at their homes, our showroom, or project sites (3-7 new appointments per week)
  • Prospecting clients and generate new leads by phone and in-person visits with potential clients.
  • Attend industry events and meet with high-end clientele. Must be able to attend events after hours
  • Assess spaces, understand client needs, budgets, and project timelines
  • Measure and design custom closet and storage solutions in Cabinet Vision that are both beautiful and functional
  • Present proposals and pricing to clients with clarity and confidence
  • Close sales and manage client relationships through project completion
  • Answer client questions, provide project updates, and collect payments
  • Occasionally visit job sites to see installations and final results (we encourage this as the projects are gorgeous)
  • Collaborate with the design team to solve complex design challenges and share best practices
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Zoho CRM and internal systems
  • Apply our core values and design standards while bringing your own creative approach to every project

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3+ years of experience in cabinet design, closet design, kitchen & bath design, or related field
  • CAD software experience (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar)
  • Cabinet Vision is a major plus but we will train
  • Proven ability to work directly with clients, build trust, and manage relationships through a project cycle
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. You need to explain design concepts clearly and handle client concerns professionally
  • Ability to close sales through consultative, client-focused approaches (not high-pressure tactics)
  • Commitment to our core values: Dedication, Innovation, Solution-Based approaches, Client-Focus, and Quality-Driven work
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule and sales pipeline

Strongly Preferred

  • Kitchen & Bath design background or certification (NKBA or similar)
  • Cabinet Vision experience
  • Previous closet or cabinet sales experience
  • Interior design degree or related education
  • Experience with residential remodels, new construction, or commercial projects
