The Showroom Design Consultant serves as the company’s representative to homeowners, designers, architects, builders, and other trade professionals. This role combines showroom sales responsibilities with a strong emphasis on outside marketing and business development. The consultant is responsible for cultivating new client relationships, expanding existing accounts, generating project opportunities, and delivering an exceptional customer experience from initial contact through project completion.
The ideal candidate is proactive, relationship-driven, and comfortable spending a significant portion of their time outside the showroom meeting with trade professionals, attending industry events, and developing strategic partnerships that drive sales growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesOutside Marketing & Business Development
This role emphasizes proactive outreach and relationship building outside the showroom environment.
Develop and execute a strategic outside sales and marketing plan to generate new business opportunities.
Regularly visit interior designers, architects, builders, contractors, and commercial design firms to present products, provide samples, and build relationships.
Conduct prospecting activities including networking, cold outreach, referral development, and follow-up meetings.
Attend industry association meetings, trade events, show houses, and networking functions to promote the company and identify new projects.
Maintain a pipeline of active prospects and develop account plans to achieve sales goals.
Strengthen relationships with existing clients through regular visits, project support, appreciation efforts, and ongoing communication.
Showroom Sales & Client Service
Support clients through the full sales cycle while delivering a premium showroom experience.
Greet and assist showroom visitors and telephone inquiries.
Assess client needs and recommend appropriate tile, stone, plumbing, and surface solutions.
Guide clients through product selection, specification, budgeting, and design coordination.
Set clear buyer expectations regarding lead times, availability, delivery, and project requirements.
Prepare sales orders, purchase orders, quotations, and related documentation.
Coordinate with designers, architects, builders, installers, and other project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
Order Management & Follow-Up
Ensure accurate processing, communication, and support throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor order status and communicate updates to clients, warehouse, and accounting teams.
Handle deposits, payments, receivables, and collections in accordance with company policy.
Resolve customer concerns, returns, and product issues professionally and efficiently.
Make job-site visits when necessary to support project success.
Showroom & Team Participation
Contribute to showroom operations, events, and team initiatives.
Participate in showroom events, open houses, seminars, and vendor training sessions.
Maintain showroom appearance, sample areas, literature libraries, and merchandising standards.
Collaborate with showroom management and team members to achieve sales and customer service objectives.
