Design Consultant (Residential Remodeling)
The Role: What You’ll Do
Do you love the intersection of creativity, design, and improving homeowners’ lives? We are seeking a detail-oriented, client-focused Design Consultant to guide clients through their remodeling journeys from initial concept to completion.
In this role, you will bring design concepts to life using Chief Architect software and collaborate closely with homeowners to curate stunning, functional material and finish selections. You will fully own the client relationship and project discovery phase, seamlessly balancing the creative design process with an consultative client experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Design & Drafting: Utilize Chief Architect software to develop accurate, innovative, and beautiful residential remodeling designs from initial concept to final construction documents.
- Material Selection: Guide clients through the selection process for finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, and other building materials, expertly balancing their aesthetic vision with project budgets.
- Client Relations: Manage the full design pipeline. This includes conducting initial in-home consultations, delivering estimate presentations, and executing contracts. (Note: Project estimating is performed by other team members).
- Collaboration: Act as the vital bridge between the client and our production team, ensuring all design details, specifications, and client expectations are seamlessly communicated prior to construction.
Qualifications for Success
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Chief Architect software is highly preferred. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to take precise field measurements are required.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of residential construction methods, local building codes, materials, and interior finishes.
- Consultative People Skills: A positive, self-motivated, and empathetic listener. You should excel at asking thought-provoking questions to uncover a client's true pain points, translating a vague wish list into actionable design solutions.
- Design Adaptability: Ability to understand and elevate each client’s individual style, curating solutions that fit their vision without letting personal design preferences conflict.
- Organization & Drive: Ability to handle a high volume of project data, stay meticulously organized, and thrive under deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience & Education: Prior design experience within the residential remodeling industry. A 4-year degree in Interior Design or Architecture is highly ideal.
