Design Coordinator - Interior Fit-out (Hospitality)

Job Purpose:

To coordinate and manage architectural and engineering designs for real estate or infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment between stakeholders including consultants, internal teams, and contractors to deliver design intent within project timelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Facilitate coordination between the ID consultant and other consultants, including:

- MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire, etc.)

- Facility Planners (back-of-house and operational planning)

- Detailed Design

- Tender Documentation

- Facilitate alignment and coordination across disciplines at each stage.

· Organize and lead design coordination meetings with action lists and follow-ups.

• Provide regular updates to the Client on design progress, highlighting key risks and dependencies.

• Support the Client in value engineering (VE) exercises in case design solutions exceed approved budgets.

· Track and record design changes raised during the process.

• Advise the Client on the implications of changes with respect to cost, time, and design intent.

· Manage the ID design process from concept through detailed design and tender documentation stages.

· Lead coordination with the operator/brand team to ensure the design reflects and complies with brand standards an identity requirements.

· Provide technical inputs limited to coordination aspects, ensuring ID design is aligned with architecture, structure, and services.

· Facilitate timely reviews and sign-offs at key design milestones.

• Review and validate design submissions against project requirements, codes, and regulations.
• Facilitate design review meetings and resolve design conflicts during planning, execution, and construction stages.
• Maintain updated drawing logs and trackers for all design packages and stages (Concept, Schematic, GFC, IFC).
• Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams for technical clarity and implementation feasibility.
• Ensure adherence to design quality standards, regulatory compliance (NBC, DCR, local by-laws), and project timelines.
• Support in value engineering exercises and design optimization initiatives.
• Coordinate for authority approvals by supporting with necessary documentation and drawings.
• Assist in BIM model coordination (if applicable) and clash detection with MEP teams.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design integration
• Excellent coordination and communication skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and project tracking tools
• Good knowledge of local building codes, standards, and approval processes
• Detail-oriented, organized, and solution-driven
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
