Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical layouts for cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and interconnect systems based on project specifications.
- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and assemblies using tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Select suitable connectors, backshells, and mechanical components in coordination with the electrical design team.
- Incorporate considerations for routing, strain relief, shielding, and environmental protection in designs.
- Ensure design compliance with relevant Defense and Aerospace standards (e.g., MILDTL, IPC/WHMA-A-620).
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Electrical Engineering teams to resolve design or assembly challenges.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
- Prepare and maintain design documentation including BOMs, revision histories, and engineering change records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and standardization. Desired Skills & Attributes
- 2–4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within cable assembly, interconnect, or electro-mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of electrical connectivity and cable integration principles.
- Familiarity with MIL-spec connectors, backshells, and Aerospace/Defense standards.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and design quality.
- Effective collaboration skills and ability to work across engineering functions. • Problem-solving mindset with focus on manufacturability and reliability.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to advanced design tools and industry requirements.
