Job Title: Design Engineer (Protection Systems up to 400kV)
Requirement – 1 No.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 5 to 7+ years of dedicated protection engineering experience in an EPC environment, handling utility substation projects up to the 400kV level.
- Technical Knowledge: Hands-on familiarity with major protection relay brands (such as Siemens, ABB, GE, or SEL) and a strong understanding of power system fault analysis. Familiarity with local utility standards is highly preferred.
- Teamwork: Excellent analytical skills and a proven ability to coordinate complex technical upgrades safely alongside testing and commissioning teams.
· Key Responsibilities:
- Design and configure reliable protection schemes for high-voltage substations up to 400kV, including complex one-and-a-half breaker setups and double busbar arrangements.
- Develop protection logic for major grid assets, including overhead lines, underground cables, massive power transformers (up to 400kV range), and shunt reactors.
- Perform relay setting calculations to ensure protection devices react correctly to network faults.
- Conduct CT (Current Transformer) sizing calculations and verify the adequacy of existing CTs during substation upgrades.
Vendor Coordination & Documentation:
- Review and assess vendor drawings, technical submittals, and equipment manuals to ensure they strictly align with the project's design intent and utility specifications.
- Coordinate technical clarifications directly with relay and equipment manufacturers to resolve design discrepancies before manufacturing and delivery.
- Define the requirements for Fiber Optic communication links used in differential protection and direct inter-trip schemes.
Support site teams by defining protocols for End-to-End testing (from one substation to another) and verifying overall system stability before the equipment goes live.
