Design Intern at Interior Design Studio

Under the direction of the design team and Principal, the intern will assist with administrative and design-related duties.

Please note that this is a full-time internship for a period of 6 months; please only apply if this works with your schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design:

- Assist with organizing extensive materials library, including processing and filing new samples/catalogues that come in, or returning samples to vendors

- Requesting information from vendors or fabricators – pricing, lead time, color/size/finish options, availability, etc.

- Assist with preparing client presentations, including creating tear sheets and design boards, memo’ing furniture and accessories, etc.

- Creating mock-ups of furniture or design elements

- Picking up/dropping off materials, drawings, etc. to clients or vendors

- Assisting with project installations

- Assisting with creating proposals and purchase orders, depending on experience

- Assisting with design drawings, depending on experience

Administrative:

- Answer incoming phone calls to route to appropriate person

- Coordinating shipping/receiving of daily packages

- Assist with maintaining office cleanliness and organization

- Schedule vendor appointments & lunches

Qualifications and Requirements:

- General office skills such as MS office (Outlook, word, excel), phone, fax, copy, etc.

- Ability to think critically, problem solve situations and work independently

- Valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile

- Permit to work in the United States

Preferred Skills:

- AutoCAD/ArchiCAD

- Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

- Sketch Up or other rendering software

Job Types: Full-time, Internship

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
