Design Manager – Mechanical (Packaging Automation)

Warade PackTech Pvt. Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of packaging machinery and automation systems. We are seeking an experienced Design Manager (Mechanical) to lead our design and engineering team in developing innovative packaging and SPM (Special Purpose Machine) solutions — from concept to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

A) Technical Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of design engineers in developing 3D/2D mechanical components and assemblies using Solid Edge.
• Oversee the design of packaging machinery, automation systems, and SPMs, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Ensure accurate creation and maintenance of BOMs (Bill of Materials) and design documentation in SAP.
• Apply strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, drive systems, and material selection in design.
• Review and approve detailed drawings, design calculations, and design change requests.
• Support prototype development, testing, and validation to ensure quality and design intent.

B) Managerial & Strategic Responsibilities

• Manage and allocate design resources; set priorities and ensure on-time project delivery.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the design team by implementing standards and best practices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Electrical, R&D, and Project Management teams.
• Provide technical mentorship, performance feedback, and career development support to team members.
• Coordinate with senior management for project planning, cost estimation, and feasibility studies.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems, safety standards, and customer requirements.
• Explore and adopt new design tools, manufacturing technologies, and automation techniques to enhance competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Design Engineering
• Experience: 8–12 years in packaging machinery, automation, or SPM design
• Leadership: 2–3 years in a team lead or managerial role
• Strong proficiency in Solid Edge (SolidWorks/AutoCAD a plus)
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple design projects and cross-functional teams
