Design Manager [Retail Interior Fit-Out]

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Design & Projects person to lead our retail interior fit out design department in Gurgaon. The role requires a strong blend of creative vision, technicalexpertise, and execution capability.The ideal candidate will oversee concept development, detailed drawings, BOQs, client coordination,consultant alignment, and site execution support to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-qualityproject delivery.This role is leadership-focused but hands-on in execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership & Concept Development Lead conceptual design development for retail interior projects. Translate client briefs into innovative, functional, and brand-aligned retail spaces. Present design concepts, mood boards, and layouts to clients. Ensure brand consistency and commercial viability in all designs.

2. Technical & Execution Oversight Oversee preparation of: Working drawings GFC drawings Detailed BOQs Material specifications Ensure seamless coordination between design, MEP, and structural consultants. Validate technical feasibility before execution. Review site drawings and revisions. Optimize costs and directly contribute to gross margins.

3. Project & Site Coordination Work closely with project managers and site teams. Conduct periodic site visits to ensure design intent is maintained. Resolve design-related site issues proactively. Ensure projects are delivered within timeline and budget.

4. Client & Consultant Management Lead client meetings and presentations. Handle design approvals and revisions. Coordinate with architects, vendors, contractors, and consultants. Maintain strong stakeholder communication.

5. Team Leadership Build team of architects, designers and MEP engineers Manage and mentor the design team (architects, designers, draftsmen). Assign tasks and monitor deadlines. Maintain design quality standards. Build structured workflows for efficiency.6. Cost & Material Strategy Guide material selection aligned with budget. Work with procurement for vendor finalization. Optimize cost without compromising quality.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s / Master’s in Architecture or Interior Design.

5-8 years of experience in retail interior fit-out.

Strong knowledge of: Retail store layouts BOQ preparation GFC drawings MEP coordination Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory).

Skills in SketchUp / Revit / 3DMax tools preferred.
