Designer

Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting in interpreting and executing the trend, design and creative direction of United States, Canada, and Ecommerce product markets and customers for specific assigned customer channels. Supports Design Director and Senior Designer in creating CAD and textile design work and completing product development and production objectives in a timely and customer-centric approach, according to project requirements. Collaborates with Design team, while taking ownership of own projects by customer, responsible for customer-focused designs and timely accurate specs, with Senior Designer oversight. Sales and buyer facing for specific customer channels. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet company needs and business requirements.

Duties include:

• Assist with showroom ideation and execution, in conjunction with the Design and Marketing teams, under guidance of Creative Design Management.
• Collaborate with Senior Designer and Design Director on executing and assist with setting the trend, design, and creative direction of all projects assigned.
• Create conceptual and market appropriate original print/woven and embellished designs under guidance of Design Management.
• Collaborate with Welspun team to assist with building constructions and patterns to pricing criteria.
• Assist with design and development of bedding, soft home accessories, sheets, hospitality, and beach towels, as well as other products as assigned.
• Create original artwork through CAD and handpainting/drawing as directed.
• Create tech packs / specs per design direction given in PLM system.
• Prepare development and production packages for overseas offices and vendors, including artwork files, color standards, and technical information.
• Review factory color and print submits, as well as vendor fabrics and print submits, under guidance of Design Management.
• Represent design in customer meetings

Should motivate, guide and advice to the entire team at the appropriate time to combat challenges and trouble shoot on day-to-day basis. Provide adequate resources to the team for performing their day-to-day duties and responsibility. Adequately recognize and appreciate the contributions made by the team. Coach subordinates while executing job responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Design or related field 4+ years of experience

Language Skills: Ability to write and understand routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have standard computer skills including use of e-mail, use of word processing, presentation and spread sheet tools. Should be familiar with storage of files and data security.

• Must have expertise in CAD Design in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Must be fully proficient in CAD skills including indexing and color separating artwork, and creating repeats in a manner that is technically production ready.
• Must be proficient in either MAC or PC environment.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to draw or paint as part of the design process.
