Position Summary:

The Designer supports homebuyers throughout the interior design and customization process, providing guidance on materials, finishes, and structural and non-structural options. This role ensures selections are completed accurately and on schedule, coordinates key appointments and walkthroughs, and works closely with Sales, Construction, Trade Partners, and Customer Care to ensure all chosen options are installed as approved. The Designer delivers exceptional customer service while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with company standards

Responsibilities:
Selection Appointments

  • Meet with homebuyers to guide them through the design process, including materials, options, and upgrade selections.
  • Set clear expectations regarding selection deadlines, cut-off dates, and custom option requests to maximize customer satisfaction while maintaining the construction schedule.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, communication, support, and follow-up throughout the escrow process to ensure a positive homebuying experience.
  • Submit and route all homebuyer selection orders through the appropriate internal channels in a timely and accurate manner.


The Selection Process

  • Provide interior design consultations and recommendations tailored to homebuyers.
  • Ensure all option selections are completed by required cut-off deadlines.
  • Prepare and provide flooring, electrical, and countertop diagrams as part of the selection process.
  • Prepare standard, upgrade, and custom option orders, along with applicable escrow instructions, and enter all selections into the options software system accurately.
  • Collect and process deposits in accordance with company policies.
  • Obtain homebuyer approval of all selected materials prior to installation.
  • Coordinate homebuyer walkthroughs at key stages of construction.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Construction, Trade Partners, and Customer Care teams to ensure all selected options are installed correctly and meet quality standards.
  • Assist in evaluating the quality of workmanship provided by trade partners.
  • Meet regularly with vendors to stay current on materials, products, and installation methods.
  • Research market trends, consumer preferences, and design innovations, and recommend new products and options for future offerings


Key Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education (GED).
  • Minimum of five years of design experience with a homebuilder or in a design studio is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar programs.
  • Strong construction knowledge with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • ASID certification or affiliation preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Highly detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain the established work schedule, including working Saturdays as required.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.


Base Salary:

The expected base salary for this position is between $65,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience and skillset. Base salary is paid bi-weekly.

Physical Requirements:

This is primarily a sedentary position. Requires the ability to hear, type and talk. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard. The primary work location is a corporate office with low to moderate noise levels. Appropriate business apparel and professional appearance are expected.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not supervise other employees.

Travel Requirements:

A valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance is required at all times.
