Summary/Objective

The focus of a Designer is to work with our customers to complete accurate drawings and specifications to support sales efforts. Daily responsibilities will include reviewing incoming requests, validate for completeness, clarify with Customer when needed, completing the project, check completed project files for accuracy and then delivering completed project files to our Customers and Sales Teams within a very strict timeline. In addition to creating project files this position will be responsible for other projects including but not limited to the list below. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of Design, Project Coordination or Project Management experience as the role requires a very careful eye for detail and thorough completion of all job tasks within strict deadlines. Experience with Commercial Furnishings preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

Design

  • Based on information from customers, draw and specify commercial furniture layouts using AutoCAD and CAP 2020 software, providing drawings and accurate bill of materials for ordering.
  • Create 2D, 3D, color renderings and specifications (BOM) using AutoCAD and 2020 CAP software.
  • Clearly communicate directly with Customers and Sales Teams when clarification is needed, using product knowledge to identify appropriate solution.

Product Knowledge Resource

  • Develop thorough knowledge of our products and understanding of application (training will be provided)
  • Answer product questions from internal and external Teams via email and phone calls (training and resources will be provided)

Typical Library Development

  • Work with Design Supervisor to create generic typicals based on popular configurations requested by Customers to keep our typical library current with customer trends

Special Projects

  • Work with Product Development to identify areas for improvement to 2020 catalogs, pricelists, installation manuals and other tools managed by Product Development.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by the Design Supervisor.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be required when visiting production areas.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • One year of Design, Project Coordination or Project Management experience
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Studies in Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience with written communication, especially conveying complicated or technical information
  • Background in commercial furniture is a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD preferred
  • Experience with CET Designer and/or Giza is a plus

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
